I know there must be details on Holdsworh frame numbers out there somewhere but after an hour and a half searching them out I thought I'd ask here in case anyone knew

I think this is a cyclone, the seller though he'd had it new in 1948, the serial no is 12445

Re:

Looking at the lugs might be a good way to identify a Holdsworth Cyclone - they often had elaborate pointed lug work.

Apparently frame numbers were sequential.

Classic Lightweights has an 11767 from 1949, and says that your "gothic" lugs were first used in late 1950. The Holdsworth catalogues at the VCC archive show a twin-plate fork crown with round blades for the 1950 model, and a forged crown with oval blades for '51, but changes are often made mid-year. This converted track model has a number just slightly higher than yours (12593) and is identified as 1951-52 - but I think it might be a touch older.

My best guess is late 1950, maybe early '51, but the marque enthusiast at the VCC will have a more definitive list of serial numbers.
