Just got it put back together tonight!

The original Alivio crank and square taper bb are gone (the bb seized) in favor of a new SLX crank. Everything else is pretty much the same, sans the fork (the original Rock Shock Indy SL got pretty sticky), which I replaced with an 04 Manitou Black.

Going to take it out this weekend and see how it holds up!









In other news, I think I may have found someone who can fix my AlpineStars Al-Mega. I'll post an update once I know more.

I took it out today to our mountain biking park, and after a few adjustments (brake reach and saddle height) I was able to put in some really good laps. Definitely faster than my FS Jamis, as evident from my Garmin Edge 305 (which I keep in my camelback). My average went from 8.0 to 8.4. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it's a pretty challenging course, so I think the .4 was a pretty good improvement, especially considering that I did an extra lap (6-ish miles) bringing my total up to 23.5 miles for the ride. Max grade (according to the Garmin) is 41.2%.

I think it's pretty much the way I'm going to leave it. I might swap out the seatpost, as this Performance store brand seems to have an auto-tilt function (no matter how much I tighten it) that I'm not too crazy about. I also wouldn't mind a bit more set-back, as I have the seat slid all the way back on the rails.
