Help with this apollo?

Hi Iv been given a old bike and would like to know if anyone can help me. It has raleigh handles but an apollo frame sticker on the front. All the parts seem old and in good shape but I'm having trouble researching what year and model it is.

Looks like pre-1997 road bike to me. Moved to the correct section.

As for your question, I see that it has been painted by hand. If you can remove that paint (with acetone for example) without damaging the original paint, you may find original decals under there.

Thanks. The plonker who had it before me has painted it using garden paint using a brush

Looks like a bottom-end 1970's Raleigh to me - with new forks.

Does it have 27" (not 700c) wheels?

Aha! Paint fade from front to back - I was thinking it looked like a Raleigh Arena.
Apollo were cheap bikes, IIRC there were some made in (?) Yugoslavia in the 1980s. The frame has a plate for a kickstand, which wouldn't be on a higher-end bike.

The stem, assuming it's original, would make it a 1988 or thereabouts.
