Help with dating Dmr

Can anyone help me to date my dmr, Or point me in the right direction to find out more. It looks to be the original paint & decals.
The frame no is ST98100078
Any help is appreciated, Will take some pictures as I build it up. I was thinking Z1's and what ever I can find in the shed.

i had that frame in transparent red, quite sure its 99, but could have been 98. would be nice with a set of old orange z1 bams. think the rrp was £250. i may still have the original dmr chain tug thingies if you need them?

Close Racedoctor but the lack of a disc mount and the sticker headtube badge instead of the plastic one make it about as early as they come . 1997

The chain tugs that came with it are round,black anodized,with dmr stamped on them.

Mine didnt have disc mounts either, the one in the ad pic is the transparent blue. Guess I must have got it the year after it came out then.

It was a nice frame but mine had a faulty bb area and broke after a fairly small jump and had only had it a few months. Planet-X jack flashes had not long been out then so the shop let me swap it for that. I actually wish looking back that I had got another dmr as it had much nicer geometry. I really like the decals on them as well.

It was such a nice day today I washed and destickerd the dmr. Also had a root round in the shed to see what parts I had, I found a dmr chain guide, dmr seat and a sweet set of old skool riser bars in gold (I think they are answer's as they say Manitou and Ea70). So what do you think should I keep it original or new paint and decals.

Ps I know the forks are to modern but the orange Z1 cr's are no order and will soon be here.

AT LAST!! my Z1 have arrived, Now can some one tell me what the controls on top of the stanchions do
Ive had a good root round the shed as well, Found some sun BFM rims on LX hubs and with a few more DMR goodies.
So it should be build time soon will take some pic's as it progresses, Thanks for the help and inspiration.

The manuals for all Marzocchis are still available for download from their website (sign of a class act). If you're unsure as to the date of the fork, there should be a date stamped on the inside by the dropouts, and as I understand it the model year of the fork is usually the year after the date stamp.

If you're in any doubt, AndrewL is an expert in Marzocchis, and Z1s in particular.

Did you try DMR themselves to get a definite dating of the frame? Incidentally if it was mine, I would 100% keep the original paint and decals, maybe just tidy it up a bit if it pleases you. You don't expect to see a 10+ year old Trailstar looking all shiny and perfect!
