Can anyone suggest a reasonable postal courier for sending items from UK to Europe, US and Oz?

I'm selling some stuff on Ebay and have a couple of queries about postage costs on frames and wheel rims.

I've used the search function and tried some of the companies already suggested (Parcel2Go etc.) but their quotes are still too expensive.

I know that lightweight but bulky items get priced on the "volume" of the item rather than weight...

But how the **** can it cost £80 to £120 (that's $240USD!) to send a pair of Mavic racing rims (total 800 grammes) from UK to San Diego??

What about Royal Mail? Couriers are always expensive. When getting frames from the states, I've always used USPS priority and it cost on average about 75 USD. Surely Royal Mail must have an equivalent service?

Thanks - I'll try Royal Mail again.

Their pricing structure is a nightmare and they seem to apply different size-restrictions to each product.

I'll "massage" the dimensions a bit and see what I come up with.

Thanks.

as you say, volume is the key. I've found parcel2go the cheapest in my experience. Whole bike to australia for £102. Frames to europe for around £33.

Sometimes it is cheaper to split items into smaller packages - like buying 2 singles instead of a return on the train.
