No Kona was ever meant to be a garage queen. Ride it.

I quite agree - My 98 Caldera has been well thrashed so much so Argos are doing an overhaul and update on it.

Oh god what happens if I cant get this one dirty too

I shall take her out this evening...................

..............maybe

Intend to use mine, but should I let that reflect in the effort I am going to put in to get it picture perfect for the unveiling?

Really thinking about getting the build the way I want it, but not trying to make used components look new.

Can I be bothered to polish out a small scratch on a mech I will have to kneel down to see?

Do I need a shiny NOS bar, or will my trusty old one look right once it is done?

Will I weaken when sidekick finds an M900 groupset NOS in a cupboard?

You need a Hei-Hei, Ti bikes rule, no rust issues to worry about, you can just polish out any marks, a fresh set of decals and it looks as new 8)

Thats one I'm building up to.

A 19'' or 20'' would be ideal but at £500 plus for frame alone it starts making more modern Ti frames look apealing (listens for "burn the witch" comments)

So if anyone has a 19'' or 20'' Hei Hei...................

........or a 853 Hot........

Mountain bike parts are made to handle mud.. honest. Get out and ride it, whats the point otherwise. If its get scratched then restore it again in another 10 years... Otherwise stick it in a glass cabinet to keep the dust off!

I have shocking Kawasaki green paint and NOS grafton cranks, plus cream tyres now and i took it around Bristols very mucky Ashton Court,it got plastered but who cares,if the bits are looked after then a bit of dirt then hot soapy water followed by GT85 wont harm it
