I picked this up off the forum recently - the previous owner didn't know what it was either. I thought it was a Saracen as it has cable routing on top tube and threads under seat and chainstay bridges for mudguards / reflector mounting but not sure now on closer inspection... it's been powdercoated grey as you can see...

  • frame # YM5080025 (stamped under BB shell)
tubing sounds butted (using fingernail tap test)
    Ritchey drop-outs (135mm OLD)
    not too shabby welding
    weighs just under 4lbs (1.8kg)
    68mm BB shell
would appear to be designed for a 395mm a-c rigid fork with very slightly sloping top tube
27.0mm seatpost required (as the posts from my Kili & Marin fit perfectly - I tried 27.2 and 26.8 and they're not right)
    EDIT 26.8mm better than 27.0mm!!!
    28.6mm TP front mech
triple top tube cable routing - centre guides have slot in them
no visible seat stay mud clearance kinks
1 1/8" headtube (currently fitted with random aheadset) with some bracing at both end of said tube
canti guide on above seat stay bridge
small gusset on junction of head tube and down tube
rear facing seat tube post slot - require external 28.6mm clamp (this is why is not a early-mid '90s Kili - ???)
    22 1/4" top tube c-c / seat tube 17.5" c-c (19" c-t)
:?: :? :?:

The weight of under 4lb tells you it's top end tubing and probably a race aimed bike, so don't really need to do the ping test. It's the realm of your Prestige Superlight stuff and only really entered that in 93+ era.

Must be mid 90's at a guess as the drop outs are not early 90's style Ritchey dropouts, maybe 1993 as above but would be happier with 1995
they did not recess back and other than that I know nothing.
Gusset probably puts it late as well.

Any ovalising to any of the tubes?

yes plenty...

top tube ovalises vertically towards ends, down tube ovalises horizontally towards ends

stupidly forgot to post pic of very distinctive top tube cable guides, here's the rear one - hopefully this will be a giveaway?!

I don't know what is it, but in 100% it's not Scott frame

me too... any other thoughts anyone? Nice & light, no rack or mudguard mounts and some distinctive features listed in my original post... rigid fork geometry - it's like a dream RB frame!

What makes you think it's for a 395mm fork ? and is not a suspension adjusted 60mm frame ?

For a 19" frame that a short headtube ? and the effective top tube would then probably be more in keeping at 23-ish"
