Help me ID my Rocky Mountain!

Retro Newbie
Hey I have an old Rocky frame that a friend dropped off several years back, and decided that he did not want. Now that I have become interested in the older Rocky's, I was really trying to figure this one out. I'm guessing by the head decal that it's an 80's model, but I really am not good at this. The serial number is 900683, which maybe suggests June 1990?

I thought I'd ask the experts!

Oh, sorry. New to the site, as you can tell! I'll work on getting a smaller photo. Any ideas on the serial number though?

If you want us to identify the bike, I suggest you post a photo of it. I haven't seen a serial number in that all-numeric format, at least not unless there is an I at the beginning that you have missed out. It could mean that the frame was made in June 1990, implying most likely the 1991 model year, but just possibly 1990. The tubeset suggests it is a Fusion, but then again neither the 1990 nor 91 Fusion was white. But equally it could be an earlier model and the serial number may not imply what we are supposing, as earlier serial numbers were in various different formats.

Alright, I'll add some more. I can't seem to figure out how to edit the size of these photos so it takes a while.

The catalogue from 1989 (http://www.pooterland.com/retromtb/Rock ... n_1989.pdf) notes that the fusion had shimano mountain LX throughout, and that is what was on the derailleurs. I'm pretty sure it also came in two colour options. One being a white with black accent...

Not sure if it could be an 89 but after that, the logo changed slightly for 1990.

PS - there is no I before the serial number (I hope it's not a fake haha)

Here are a couple more clicks.

I may well not be the best person to advise you. As you say, it does look like an 89 Fusion, but according to the catalogues Fusions had rear U-brakes right up until 1991 and your frame looks as though it has canti mounts (25cm from the dropout centre?) However I just have in the back of my mind that somebody said that late 89 Fusions had cantis, but I'm not sure. Rockies had wishbone seat stays from 1990 to 92, so it must be earlier than that.

Fusion's didn't use wishbone stays in the wishbone era anyway
Stickers and groupset date it as 89 era. Probably late.
The serial could well mean 1989 similar to some other manufacturers.
the last numbers being the bike number.
The 00's could be padding or January. Who knows

(Also the ealry 90's Fusions had moved to triple butted tubing and of course 'Deore' suffix groupsets)
