Help me choose the right brakes for my Dawes Galaxy.

I have taken some Shimano m733 canitlevers off my tandem with the aim to fit them to my Dawes Galaxy.

However, I now suspect the bosses on the frame and fork are too narrow for these brakes to work optimally.

Below is 2 photos. One with the arm relaxed and one where I’m pushing it to the rim.

do I need the earlier shimano m732 (wider design)

Dumb question, because I’m not a canti expert, is that brake block up right way? It ‘looks’ upside down.

You can use a narrower pad like aztec control block
But leaving aside the boss width/ rim width issue,
- an additional problem is when the bike was built for 27/630 and now has 700/622.

In this case, about the only decent cantilever is the shimano "rabbit ears" like these br-m500s Screenshot_20250619-083649_Firefox.webp
Although the dearly beloved Brat-fifty (br-at50) can get pretty low.

But they do stick out a way.
Although this style has made a comeback, I think it was previously (almost) abandoned due to heel and pannier interference.
