Good day all. Anyone able to recognise this rim from the label remnants? Alloy 27 x 1 1/4 I think (or tyre label says 700 x 28)? Although not too clear from the photo it looks like it was once silver or chrome finish.

From my Eddie Soens rebuild thread. Thanks in advance, for looking.

Aluminium is not chrome plated, sometimes anodised, but this would have been polished.
The tyre must be a tubular I suppose. UK mainly used Fiamme, Mavic and Super champion. The variance between spoke holes points to the last two.
Either Mavic Monthlery or one of the many Super Champion.
Best I can do from what I can see.

Re:

Thanks Keith. I guess I didn't make myself too clear  .

The rims are clinchers and are aluminium - need a good polish though! My reference was to the colour of the labels - a remnant of something shiny silver around the perimeter of the label.

The Super Champion looks a good fit shape wise, but they all appear to be mainly red. Fiamme, from what I can find, had Made in Italy or similar engraved on the rim itself. Mavic Monthlery seem to be all tubular rims, even the early ones which had a diamond shaped label.

So any more ideas anyone? I'm happy to say they're Super Champs but I'm not too sure :?

Re:

Thanks biggs and Peachy both. I knew an answer would be forthcoming!

I guess I'll go for the 700c as the tyres are Mich world tour 700 x 28. These rims are laced to Pelissier sf qr hubs 36/36 which are in v good nick. The skewers are labelled P1001, which I'm pretty sure are Pelissier too. If not I can clean a big big carpet for less than half a crown...

And of course hlloyd have them all too. Wunderbar.

So now, you lucky people, I'll be able to list the components back on the rebuild thread. Stay awake at the back there!
