Help identify and repair! Falcon Super tourist

Hi folks, a friend of mine has recently bought this:

I am guessing it is quite old...?

She fitted some 'new' pedals and has I think stripped a thread on the LH crank.
What to do?
Is that a suntour Chainset (I think 2 x 5 gears)
Any info or opinions welcome, age of bike would help I guess.
Is there a problem with different BB sizes if she has to replace the cranks/chainset?

Hi, don't forget that one of the pedals will have a reverse thread, can't remember which way round now one of them unscrews opposite to normal.

The bb will have a specific axle length and fit depending on the crank used. Example my tourer has a square taper like most old bikes and is 110mm long as that is what the crankset requires, other cranks may need longer or shorter spindle lengths, and I believe some have different size on the left and right, your new crankset should specify what it needs.

TY Retro, she was aware of the reverse thread issue, I think it got crossed and overtightened.
