Help id old nervex, cinelli?

The paint isn't original: you can see the broken off adjuster screw in the left rear dropout that's been painted over.

The numbers below the Nervex stamp on the bottom bracket just give the angles and dimensions of the bottom bracket shell. The lugs are Nervex as well.

The bottom bracket shell is British-threaded, so the bike is likely to be of British manufacture (a Cinelli would have an Italian thread, for example) and, judging by the shape of the fork, could date from the late fifties. The cable guides are almost certainly later additions.

I won't try to guess the maker. Can you see a serial number anywhere?

Hi, has had later additions which do confuse, the early professional nervex lugs mean early to mid fifties. It might be worth checking out this http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/Macleans_spec.html , looks a possible, but as pointed out more clues are required, as nervex lugs were widely used in the fifties, with nearly every manufacturer having a model using them. The 'grooved' full seatstay wrapover is slightly unusual and could point towards a specific builder.

Are those Nervex Pro lugs or are they Legere?

I think the lugs are Pro, judging by the long fonts, Holdsworth in the early post war used a similiar stay wrapover.

Rk.

A small builder would have finished the rear forkends, where the spigots enter the seat stays. Very few used the Nervex fork crown (Armstrong did), most preferring the sharper look of a casting, although I found the Nervex crown to be extremely strong. The fork rake is similar to Vikings of the time. The wrapover does look qualiy from here, so a bit of a mixture.

Yes, it looks like a maclean, although the brake bridge is not curved?
No, I can't find a serial no. Further looking I found campagnolo stamped in the dropouts. The bottom 'pump' mount is brazed on the downtube, is this any clue? Are the pump mounts & BB derailleur guides origional? anything else not origional

I've got some dim's if this helps anyone;
Seat post = 26.2mm
Head tube ID = 30 (stem 22.2)
BB = 1.37x24 english

ps i have to post this in our motherland because you's guys know your stuff!
Cheers
Aussi Ben
