Hei Hei needs some love?

Yes Carl, the "filler" issue indeed - Mmm.

I'm still trying accurately date it, but I don't have any pics with all the visible clues in one single frame - Extended Seat Tube/sloping Top Tube, no Canti hanger or rear brake cable stop, non-bullet type Dropouts - Wait for the experts.

BTW - the description in the advert seems familiar - did anyone see this? Remember the winning bid on e-bay of £1,019?

1993.

I'd really like the forks off that for a project. Actually I'd like the frame too, even with filler, but can't easily justify another project.

I agree with Mr Ling that it's most likely a 93 size 19, although I can't rule out a 92 size 18 without knowing the length of the top tube. The saddle looks quite like a 1993 Kona saddle. It isn't a suspension-adjusted frame, so the handling must be quite steady with that 2001 Z2, the flat stem and the straightish bars.

The frame in Southampton appears to be a 1997 size 18 and I think Andrew would say that B18589 means it was the 589th size 18 Hei Hei they made.

Do we all remember the issues over this frame when it was first highlighted by W W Biffta on e-bay? Seat Tube shimmed down to 26.8mm, CAVEAT EMPTOR & of course the charmingly helpful advice that, "this frame will make your steel frame feel like a piece of lead"

Sold for an alleged £1,019 on e-bay 25th Oct, then listed for a more modest £370 on Gum Tree on the same day.

Yeah agree '93 or '92
The 'filler' is where the cable stop has been removed and also looks like the original canti bridge has been removed from the seatstays
I personally wouldn't touch it.

I wonder what this means?

'I personally wouldn't touch it.' because he may have damaged the structural integrity of the frame by so doing?

'I personally wouldn't touch it.' because I own five titanium bikes already, one of which is up for sale?

'I personally wouldn't touch it.' because I am of course spending all my pennies on Christmas presents for my dearly beloved?

Or 'I personally wouldn't touch it.' because it wouldn't do justice to that ti O-Beam that I recently snaffled up at such a bargainaceous price?

You never know, perhaps you'll find it in your Christmas stocking anyway?
