Headset Reduction Spacer thingies

Promise I have done a search before I get shouted at!

Presently planning to fit a Ringle Slamma Jamma 1 1/8 hset to my 1 1/4 head-tube using 2 spacers that came with the bike. Lower one is in place but upper is loose. How on earth do you fit hset cups into spacers without dislodging them? Do you fit the spacers over the hset first? Might be me being a biff, but I can't picture it. Not going to do it myself - I save hsets for the LBS, but want to save a wasted trip.

(Actually, what I really want is for someone to tell me that it doesn't work, is a bad idea and I should go back to my original idea of buying a CK Devolution...)

Press the reducer cups in first then the headset

Is there a risk that the reducer cups will move into the frame when the headset is being pressed? Having a nightmare about them getting stuck further down the headtube!

The reducer cups normally have a 'lip' on them to prevent this , have yours not got these ?

Hmmm, no lip, which means splash on a new set of spacers or go back to Plan A and give Aspire Velotech a call. I kinda think this should be done properly.
