Hijacked by the politicians ? Certainly many veterans do according to radio 5 tonight and wont be wearing a poppy.
I think it most certainly has too. :x

I think its lost its true meaning, and that its become too 'look at me, arent I good, I'm wearing a poppy'.

sod the politicians, wear a poppy! or at least put some money in the collecting box.
i wear a poppy always will for lots of personal reasons.

I donate and remember, but I do not wear a poppy. Some years I attend a remembrance service on the top of Great Gable in the Lake District.

I have been doing that off and on since my late teens in all weathers. The photos on that website are pretty much like that every year, cold windy and wet, I only remember one year when it was snow a blizzard as we climbed, but when the service started the clouds parted and revealed blue sky and a depth of scenery stretching far and wide in all directions.

Oh yeah, one year there was mountain bikes up there too.

I put money in the tin and go to the rememberance parade but dont wear a poppy. Possibly because in my youth and being a clumsy soul I'd usually stab myself with the pins they came with, now I have an aversion despite the fact there pinless (and painless) these days
