Wondering whether anyone has ever used Handlebar Tape as a chain stay protector?
Sounds silly but I was looking at Bianchi Handlebar tape in Celeste:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BIANCHI-Carb ... 0005.m1851

And I thought it would/could be used as a chjainstay protector of the same colour/marque.

Thoughts? (I hear the words b*ll*cks whispered)

Re:

I use adhesive Velcro strips (the hooked side) on my modern bike as it’s the only thing that works to stop chain slap

Back in the day it always used to be a inner tube but guess tape could work but I bit it would absorb whatever lube you use.

Handlebar tape tends to tear too easily.
Recently i've used cut up inner tube, helicopter tape and a cut up road tyre. (50 quid race tyre, sliced the beads off and used that, wanted to get my moneys worth out of it!!)

Re:

i used an off cut of rubber lizard skin tape and wrapped the chainstay like bar tape, worked fine, wouldn't recommend doing it with standard water absorbing tape though

Just use black hockey tape eh.
I know - I was in specifically asking as I wanted to use something of the same colour and with the same marque as the frame -

If you want to keep the colour you could use clear frame tape.
