The two guys in the first floor flat here were evicted on Friday and left on Saturday through no fault of their own. The Landlady didn't keep up with the mortgage payments, stupid bitch. Thankfully it's a different person to who I rent from but it's still no compensate to the two lads who got turfed out. Feel really really sorry for them and hope they've sorted temporary accommodation out.

Life's a bitch!

I thought they introduced new rules so that tennants had more notice in these situations. 1 day is hard!

Not with these guys it seems, hopefully they contacted the local council for emergency accommodation.

Stupid cow . Didn't she realize to charge enough rent to cover the mortgage :?

Poor form not telling them sooner , it's not like she wouldn't have known .

is it even legal, the tenants must of had a visit or seen mail etc warning them?

harsh stuff

Seems pretty short sighted - assuming the tenants are paying the rent, whoever now owns the title could have kept the tenant.

Odds are now that the place will sit empty as they try to punt it on, I guess!

Having looked into the process behind evicting a non-paying tenant, the tenant has a lot of rights whether they pay or not! I'd be surprised if the eviction was entirely above board.

There was something about it on Radio 4 the other day.

Apparently, there is protection if you have a buy-to-let mortgage, but if the landlord fiddles it and uses a standard mortgage, the tenants have no protection at all.

Still, as a Retrobike regular I don't believe I'm qualified to comment on sound business practice.
