yep think he's pretty much nailed it :D although there are the subsets to mountain bikers - retro / modern / retro+modern.
 
nothing more satifying than keeping up with a roadie on your MTB though.

overtaking them just fills me with glee

Did exactly this on Sunday :lol:
Had a 2 mile road hop between sections of The Purbecks and was gently bimbling up a hill when a roadie went past me like I was stood still.
'I'm not having that' I thought and nearly killed myself to catch him up.
Was about 20 yards shy when I got to the next off road section so he got away :roll:

Sometimes it would apear I am a 'Contraption Captain' but I'm also a 'mountainbiker' which might restore the balance :lol:

Yes, 90% of the time that is true.
But ever so occasionally you get one of the less capable roadies with all the gear on... they are like the wounded buffalo of the pack.
