GT Seatpost help

Hi guys, this is my first post, so be gentle!!

I'm in the process of scrubbing up my old 1999 cro-mo GT Timberline at the minute, and I'm replacing the seatpost on it, as the old one's totalled, but I haven't a clue what size i would need! I've taken a rough measurement of the original one, and it's coming up around the 29.4 mark. Does anyone else have an old GT Timberline or similar that would know what size of seatpost they take? Does this sound about right?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Cheers!

If you look real close, somewhere down near the front & bottom, it will have the size stamped on it.
I have a similar vintage <model unknown> steel GT with a 29.4, so I think you are on the right track there.

There's defo no size printed on the old seatpost, but cheers for the help! Anyone know of any website(s) I could find details on stuff like this? Is there an old archived GT site or anything?

Dimensions may be stamped on the seatclamp, as it was on my RTS.

My clamp is 31.8 and post 26.8.

Thanks guys. I have a 27.2 post lying around and that's too small, so it's defo not a 26.4. I've bought a 29.4 shim for a fiver instead of shelling out for a new post, so it should be arriving today. Hopefully it'll fit like a glove!

Cheers for your help!
