GT LTS + V brakes

I've been looking at getting a LTS again. I'm after an early one 95/96 style frame but I've noticed that some people sell them saying "with v brake mounts"
So my question is, are some LTS's only able to run canti's and not V-brakes or do they mean canti/V and not disc?

The '95 ones had canti mounts, which were angled slightly differently to the models '96 and onwards, which had canti/v brake mounts.

Most V Brakes won't work with a 1995 frame, as the tops of the arms will foul the top of the seatstay (where it bends upwards towards the top linkage). This is because the brake mounts are angled upwards slightly.

On the '96 frames and onwards, the brake mounts aren't angled upwards, so you can run Vs on them no problem.

I had XT Vs fitted to my '96 LTS Team with no issues. If you want an old style LTS (with the Titanium link at the top), then you'll have to get a '96 one if you want to run Vs on it.

Hope this helps :)

Would it be possible to fit a 96 seat stay + ti link to a 95 bike?
Was there anything else differant?
So the bike would look like a 96.

'V brakes' is a catch-all phrase nowadays for anything rim brake based it seems, especially on eBay. It makes sense when you take into account entire generations growing up only ever encountering V's.

One thing to take into account if you are planning on running cantis on an LTS, bear in mind you'll need a rear end with a cable hanger. That can be why they're sometimes mentioned as being for cantis or V's specifically.

I had hoped to use xtr v's but if the rite frame comes up I'll use maguras instead and then maybe find a V brake compatible rear end.
I understand the generation gap you mention.
