GT Karakoram 1990 Purple Haze

I owned this bike some time ago and it has returned to me today! It’s a bit more scratched and chipped than when it left me but otherwise not bad overall for a 30 plus years old. Pretty sure I’ll be stripping cleaning oiling etc and replacing a few of the parts like the tyres for something more appropriate. I’ve already got a riveted seat and some LX hub wheels. I think I replaced the shifter/brake units with XT myself before I last sold it. Does anyone know what those front brakes are? Don’t think they are original.

I love the old style GT logo on the head tube.

Think the brakes are early Tektro. Don’t remember fitting these myself. Bit of an oddity as when I bought this back in about 2003/2004 it was all original, the lady who owned it wasn’t the sort who’d have been upgrading the brakes.
