Gt bologna lite, 3D or 2x4 please?

Looks like this is a familiar request around here... but will ask anyways. Am after any of the above, preferably in black, to finish my Zaskar off. I've got other GT stem/bar options but only the single butted forks... Am in Australia, so am aware of the relatively high shipping prices out of the US and UK. I would like to get this project finished this spring so any reasonable offer would be much appreciated. cheers

Your frame looks to be a 16inch so your steerer might not have to be so long. I was offered a 3D and 2x4 fork with too short (for me) steerers and told them to contact you. :D

As your frame is 91 or 92 you should really take a 2x4 or 3D fork. However, this will mean you need a threaded headset and stem with a shaft (ideally the GT Flip-Flop).

On the other hand I think that the current (single butted) Bologna forks fit the Zaskar frame very well. The 2x4 and 3D are tripple butted and are quite "slim". The same goes for the tripple butted Bolognas, at least the early models. It took me six months to find a tripple butted bologna for my Xizang and even with this thinner frame I find the forks to be rather slim. In addition, the tripple butted GT forks aren't that light as some people propose. My Bologna Lite have 845 gr (incl. star crown) with 18.5cm steerer, my 3Ds as well. My old single butted Bolognas had 925gr. So a lot of fuss for only 80gr...

I once also had 2x4s. They also weighed around 920gr even with a short steerer. According to this add, they were supposed to be much lighter but that's advertising for you...

Good luck with your search and decision! And nice Build by the way! :D

Slightly off-topic: your display stand seems to show the letters "GT". Is that correct??

Hi Nevadasmith. Yes that steerer length will be fine, just. Thanks for getting in touch.
Also, thanks Rahbari for the referral. Yes it's a 16", so steerer length will be just long enough by my measurements. I also have both versions of the quill flip-flop stem, so am ready to go, depending on the fork. My bike came with 3D's etc originally. Years ago they went out for hard rubbish when my father cleaned out the shed! Have kicked myself many times over for that mistake. Now I don't throw anything out (bike related), even if it's broken, much to the dismay of my wife... Agreed r.e Bologna's. The single butted forks do complement the frame and stressing over grams isn't worth it on anything not Xizang. Was more concerned with keeping things stock, but I feel lucky to even have these forks at the moment, so anything else is a bonus. Yes the stand is a GT one from 2007ish. They weren't hard to come by at the time but I haven't seen one since. Pretty sure they're just cheap Taiwanese made. If you're desperate for one I'll sell it to you for the cost of a generic replacement. Postage may be expensive though as it's pretty heavy. PM me if you're keen...
