Getting a landlords reference

This is bugging me to the point of sleepless nights..

We're going to need a reference from our current landlord before the final approval for the new abode..

Only thing is she's probably going to be pretty unhappy about us moving so I'm stressing that she's going to sabotage us..

Anyone got any experience of this??

Previous tenancies have been either with agencies or with no tenancy agreement so it hasn't been a problem..

give the current landlord a reference request with yes/no answers, and no space to make comment. i know its illegal to give a bad job reference but not sure on housing ones.....

Well she's got no reason to provide a bad ref since the house is in considerably better condition now than it was when we moved in, we've never been late for the rent and bother her as little as possible, preferring to sort things ourself.

But she ain't gonna be happy and there's a little history...

And I bet she'll drag her heels sending it back to the agent too ..

Or perhaps I'm just worrying over nothing/very little. . . which would be nice.

best bet would be to speak to her and explain the situation. if i were a landlord and knew someone was leaving i'd want them out and new tennants in asap.

And it's a really bad idea to mess with tenants in your house.. especially when you don't hold a deposit for them to worry about..

Still hoping I'm worrying about nothing. But still worrying

And hoping the agent sends them a yes/no questionnaire. With an SAE.

Ideally want to be giving notice by the end of the week.. it's getting alarmingly close to that day of festiveness otherwise
