GB KROMO ‘SPEARPOINT’ STEM – Near perfect condition but with issues…!

- 100mm
- 25.4mm clamp
- All parts rechromed to very nice finish.

BUT… IT HAS ISSUES!

- 'Nominal' 22.2mm steerer!

The stem steerer has been fractionally reduced from 22.2mm by the prep polishing prior to rechroming.
I initially thought this was worse than it is.
See thread here…

…but after advice – I regreased it really well, making sure I properly greased the conical wedge and inside the stem steerer. It now seems to hold tight. I was also advised in my thread that the stem doesn't bear a huge weight so would probably be okay, and if in doubt a little shim stock would be okay. Found some easily online, although the tin can trick could be used.

Other thing is, you can see a slight gap between stem and headset locknut, when installed, that to me is a bit more than normal.
We’re not talking a gaping gap, I’m pedantic, but mentioning all potential concerns.
Could let in excessive moisture?

Conclusion!
I think this will be tight enough, but as I am taking an age building the Rotrax I have I finally bought another GB 531 stem.
Seemed silly to be trying to get something ‘just right’ then be impatient.

Pictures below of stem.
I can put up pictures of it installed to give an idea too when I get home.

Price is what I paid for stem and rechrome of stem, and parts...
Total: £80.00 Now - £5 = £75.00 to anyone here, my credit card just beat me in a staring contest so I've also had to put it on Ebay. Feel free to move thread to Auction watch if applicable.

Total includes posted UK recorded. Can send worldwide at cost to send insured

I realise this is high, but for too much less I'd be swithering whether to let it go.
It's very beautiful.
But seems sad it is now going to just sit in a box, until I have a less precious bike for it (some way off!).
Especially as I know it is something that may be just what someone here needs, so if someone wants to take a ‘risk’ on it get in touch.

Bars and Bell not for sale!
