Mavic 27x1x1/4 630c rims laced to Miche hubs with Miche Q/Rs

quality stainless spokes (DT Swiss? Wheelsmith? I dont know the logo)

Michelin World Tour tyres with about 200 miles

also inc Sachs 6spd screw-on and extra Miche tubular rear wheel if you have any problems getting the cassette off

Ah, now I can see them better. Not quite what I was after for my super-old restoration, sorry M Fromage. Excellent wheels though.
 
well - going outside and measuring found them to be under 130, at a guess around 126- ish but its difficult to tell as the cogs get in the way.

I apologise for what I'm about to say next -

unless a frame is of some exotic inflexible material, a stretch of 2mm either side is hardly the end of the bloody world and I think too much bullshit surrounds fitting of wheels with different axle widths... :roll:

hey I don't disagree, but this (531 Carlton) frame here measures less than 120 'at rest'. I've tried an old steel-rimmed 5-speed wheel which was measured at 126 -- exotic material or not, it was as much as my weedy biceps could manage to make the stays accept it. I don't really want to use heat and/or some more serious permanent persuasion (let alone - shudder - the gym).
