Bontrager Race OR, Medium size
Bought in July 1996 and it is almost as purchased.
A Bontrager Race, medium sized frame, and fits me as a 5’9” person.
I specc’d it with Pace RC35 forks not the then troublesome Rockshox forks, who at the time kept blowing suspension cartridges.
I asked Keith Bontrager if Pace forks would upset the dynamics and he said no, they were good kit and he’s use them himself if the US/UK import weren’t so prohibitive.
It has XT throughout with Bontrager stem and handlebars.
Tioga Surefoot VII pedals and clips.
The forks are Pace RC35 MXC’s complete with Pace Greasegun and Pace grease.
*the elastomers are breaking down so need a new set*
The non-original parts are:-
Rims – gone through a few!
Original rear V Brake became rattly so fitted a newer one. I will include the original V brake for your choice.
Black Hope qr seat clamp fitted, again original seat clamp will be included.
I must have changed the rear cassette but simply cannot remember.
The front qr lever is not XT.
The local bike shop has just fitted a new headset and checked/grease bottom bracket.
On re-fitting the pace forks I realise they need new elastomers, available from the Pace shop.
I have fitted Lizard Skin frame protectors to stop cables rubbing the paintwork.
The Bonty anti-chainsuck plate has prevented chainsuck and a MBUK plastic chainstay guard protects the chainstay from chainslap..
There are no major scratches on the frame.
It rarely got wet as I used a rigid Bontrager Privateer ( now sold ) which was the ‘wet bike’.

It's in really good condition, simply no longer used.

collected if possible from Devon?
