FS - 23" Buzz Low-pro Frame - SALE NOW WITHDRAWN

Old Ned

Old School Grand Master
Sadly I've decided that I'm not going to build this after all. To many other projects and commitments (not all cycling related!) and I also need the space. I also reckon it's probably a bit to small for me as well, should have realised this before taking it for refurbishing!

Buzz was a name used by the builder, Karl Gomersall, who built frames for a short while in Leeds around 1990. I think he packed up because of pressure of his 'normal' job.

It's Reynolds 653 tubing, a 22" c-2-t seat tube (I use a 23") with an equivalent 21" c-2-c top tube (I need a 22"). Overall wheelbase is 38". Seat pin 27.2, rear ends 126mm. Allen key brake fitting, twin DT lever bosses. Vertical rear ends with gear hanger. Braze-on bracket for front changer. Refurbished very recently by Chris Marshall with original Buzz transfers. I've not even put a wheel in since I got it back apart from to stand it in the hall and admire (!) it.

Please not that the headset will NOT be included. I have earmarked this for another bike that has a very worn one that needs replacing.

Considering the condition and the cost of the refurb I'm looking for £150 including carriage to a mainland UK address only. Payment by cleared cheque or cash only - no Paypal etc. Discount for collection.

Having had a re-think (and going by the complete lack of response!) I've decided to go ahead with the build and put some of my other projects on the back burner. I've come to the conclusion that the small size doesn't really matter with a lo-pro as the front end is the same size on all frames and it's going to be very similar to riding a compact modern frame with a long seat pillar. I'll probably use my Zoom seatpin which is very close to period - and very light.

Therefore, keep your eyes open in Reader's Bikes in the next couple of weeks!

I think I remember being overtaken by this in a time trial! Can`t think of the rider tho` - there were so many ..........

Not for at least 15 years you haven't - and it was a completely different colour then!

If I get it together it might get an airing on the V718 next Saturday.

I guess low-pros are a bit special and you have to be actively racing to own one. I can't imagine riding one to the local cafe on a Sunday!

It looks a super frame so I'm glad you're giving it the full treatment.

Mark.

Me too! Although I stopped TT'ing with them in 1988 but kept in touch - and still do! The lad who owned it was Ian W.
