You realise that you can replace the rod with a longer one to make a rear? Just bastardise an old rear!

On skewers of this type, the rod is threaded at both ends. Simply clamp the rod in a vice and 'undo'* the lever end (keeping it at right angles to the rod) by rotating anticlockwise.

*The lever might need a bit of persuasion - in this case, I would use an adjustable spanner on the cam end of the lever with the spanner in line with the lever itself (i.e. at right-angles to the rod) but opposite the lever so as not to damage the lever itself.

I didn't know that. But as I already have a pair, I won't try it. You'd just find another rear skewer of similar design and swap its rod over, would you? But you'd be unlikely to find a ti one, surely?

I have to admit I hadn't cottoned on that mine were ti, but I guess they must be as they weigh 43 and 47. A better buy than I thought then! I suppose I thought they were stainless steel, if I thought at all.
