Forum Libel Action

Is there a legal precedent relating to libel action being taken against people on internet forums such as this one, or similar forums?

Seriously though, I imagine it is similar to the facebook/twitter situation, in which case I believe yes there is precedence.

I know one person on another forum who had the legal heavies put on him for slanderous remarks. It was against an organisation business though.

There was a very serious case involving a Coventry City forum a few years ago. I was a moderator on a football forum at the time and we had to seriously tighten our moderating after it.
