I bought a 22.5” 531 Raleigh rapide frame a few years ago, it came with chrome forks, original bars and stem and was £30 lol!
I built it up and the forks make the ride way too harsh, they are 1980’s Sintema chrome close clearance and totally rigid. They only just accommodate 700 x 23c. Also the top is too long, must be for a larger frame because the stem won’t go down very far.
I have 80’s 531 chrome forks on two other bikes and the ride is nice, but they aren’t’ close clearance, so presumably these sintema’s are more for track use. On cobbles they shake my feet out of the clips FFS!
I want to fit carbon forks, and swap the sintema’s to a larger bike (For smooth use only!). Anyone know what carbon forks I need to fit the 22.5” 531, what top length should they be, and they need to be reasonably affordable?
