any tips for cannondale force 40 rocker set ups ?

apart from put in bin and fit a hanger

mike

you need to fine fettle the adjuster springs to get a nice linear pull.be careful with the straddle lengths as well.if to long will not be powerful enough and too short, the same.
i actually liked mine, theyre a bugger to sort but never had any issues after, even in the peaks  lol

Which type you got?

my old est had the earlier type with the little wheel in the middle, a right faff to setup, I ended up with full spring tension on one canti and minimum on the other side to get them to sit evenly against the incoming cable......they were very powerful until I adjusted a bit more at which point they went completely off the boil again  in a nutshell fiddly

I haven't dared go near the later type on the other half's m800 yet!

its the later cast ones , the earlier brass wheel ones are fine and
easy to set up , like a pace rocker

anyway i have given up and fitted canti hangers

I bought F40's to fit to Christine

I had the later ones with the triangle Cannondale logo on them bitd.

Without the brakes attached make sure that the logo on the rocker is aligned so that the top point of the logo is vertical to the ground. Attach the brake arm with the short straddle wire and adjust it so that the brake pad is as close to the brake surface as possible, while still being able to unhook the straddle cable. Now attach the main brake cable and adjust the other arm in the same way. If everything goes well it should work now.

BTW you will never get both pads to contact the rim at the same time with this system (one will always move first - the one attached to the main cable). Also the front brake will work better with a slightly longer section of outer than normal (they were designed to work with the left lever operating the front brake). Cack handed Americans. :P
