Well, for the first time in almost 10 years, I finally got to ride my old Klein again after many years gathering dust in my moms attic. I've been rebuilding it since November, and since then seem to spend my time either on here or ebay looking for new parts.
Not completely Retro, has a modern XT rear mech and modernish XTR shifters and V-brakes, but retro wasn't the aim anyway, this is not gonna be a garage queen and I wanted the build to have some of the bling I couldn't afford to hang on it back in the day but have good reliable brakes and transmission.
The frame is currently a bit scruffy, but hopefully will be getting repainted after the summer, although haven't finally decided on this yet as some of the paintwork scars tell a little story. This frame has had a very eventful life, hundreds of miles on the road as a commuter and training bike, dirt jump bike, xc race bike for several seasons, downhill race bike for quite a while too when suspension was virtually unknown, even a trip to Moab and its taken it all in its stride.
I love it, got on it today and it still fits me like a glove and makes every other bike feel sluggish by comparison, forgot how quick these things are, instant direct drive and light as a feather.
Now its time to get my lardy ass back in shape, only went across Richmond park to the bike shop today to make me realise how out of shape I am.
So now I'm super chuffed, thanks guys for all the good advice and patient answers to some dumb questions since I joined here.
