Hi , new to this site . i have just rebuilt my old kona explosif (97). i have cobbled it together with bits from my shed etc.#


what forks should be on my bike. i did have some manitou forks back when it was new, but i broke the crown of the forks so they got binned.

i have fitted some rigid gt steel forks i have,

What colour p2s should i have.

next i have bought a new chain for it, but chucked the old one away years ago, so dont know how long it should be.

so how long should a 21 sped chain be, in links i guess.

as for forks what ever you like the best, orthough a kona needs a straight fork. if you trying to build a peroid correct bike then have a look at konaretro.com or look the the catalogues on this site. hope this helps

Chain length (according to shimano instruction iirc) should be long enough to wrap around the large to large rings + two links.*

Though if you run say very large front rings a very small granny ring you may need to alter this (or get a longer cage). But this stops you snapping it or getting it stuck on the top rings with accidental or lazy gear selection.
