Just wondered if anyone else has the same fetish for certain parts of a bike.

I really like cranks and hubs at the moment. Quite like bars aswell and seatposts don't really do it for me.
Find it hard to not buy a nice pair of square taper cranks or a nice set of hubs when I see them advertised. Dunno why just get a little voice that tells me to buy - buy - buy.

So come on then, what floats your boat and gets your juices flowing?

What have you got 5x as many of than uses? :) There must be something...

M900 Xtr stuff, Cantilevers and as you say, cranks!

Also rare stuff that I dont need but oh looks so nice...

Like that CampagOr groupset on ebay US last night - So tempted....

I've got a fetish for frames. Don't get me wrong, I love parts too, but if I buy a frame I know I can do anything with it at some point in the future. If I buy parts they might not be the right colour or size for a build.

I seem to have developed a slightly worrying Rock Shox habit. Well over 10 pairs in various states of repair on various bikes. Must stop buying them....

Hey Jon

You mentioned that its possible to take the inners out of say, a pair of FSX and replace them with SID internals.

I see a project coming on for 2006...

The interchangeability between Judys and SIDs is pretty good. You may have issues with very early forks (due to the size of the hole and slots in the lowers) and newer forks though.

the problem I find with non NOS cranks. is that unless u try them, u can never tell if they're going to work.. ignore if cranks are just for wallhanging purposes :)

But for me it'll always be the frame. "the frames the thing" as it were :)
