FD compatibility?

Hi folks

Can anyone confirm whether a FD-MC36 28.6mm stx-rc would be compatible with a 31.8mm XT M750? I think the XT seems to sit too high on the seat tube. Any lower and the back of the cage seems to hit the middle ring at full extension. All very weird!

That will depend on the diameter of the seat tube. Are you using a spacer with the 31.8 mech?

Yep. I've got a resin spacer to make up the difference.

Any thoughts chaps? My FC is an M569 but the top ring is 42t. I think maybe 44t is required potentially?

Maybe you need a high clamp mech?

I must admit I'm no expert, but what difference/benefit would that offer? Or should I look at changing the front crankset? The odd thing is the 1999 Kona manual for my bike suggests the front crankset is 22-32-42 for 9 speed! The m569 is the same tooth setup.
