Using some help from US based forum member or shipping company could get that shipping cost down to $20

note quite that low. Probably around $55usd. It's not far from me.

I recently looked into shipping a frame from the US to the UK and it was $481. Needless to say that was a real deal breaker. I would be very interested in how to go about shipping a large bike box across the pond for a more reasonable $50-$70.

with DHL, UPS, and FED EX, it will cost around $500. With USPS (united states postal service), via Priority Mail with a box dimension of under 108" (girth plus length), unless your country has stricter regs, like Brazil and Australia which have a 79" girth plus length limit. In those cases, the more expensive method, (DHL,FED EX, or UPS) is your only option.

What I meant above with $20 was the price for domestic US shipping. Overseas added to that.

I've got frames shipped to me from the US with USPS for $70-90.
Whole bikes are a different story buy by using www.myus.com, the shipping costs have still been reasonable, like $150.

ah! gotcha.

If anyone is interested, will be selling my Fat Ti, a medium, and one of the two or three made with a Hayes disc tab, along with the frame tabs/cable guides, direct from the factory. Also have the hydraulic Hayes disc brakes it was meant for, with extras, in far better condition than the one seen here:
