I've been to Cuba but not on a bike. Looks good for cycling as there are not many vehicles.
Avoid state run hotels and restaurants, service is poor and surly. Utilise the free market economy that exists as much as possible.
Beers OK,Mojhito's VERY good, soft drinks and sweeties are good as they have loads of sugar, cocoa, milk, tropical fruit etc, mango icecream was yummy
Ignore state propaganda.
Avoid hawkers etc, some jump into your photo shots then demand payment sometimes aggressively for being photographed
Choose time of year well, 100% humidity and temps above 37oC are real killers
Be relaxed as nothing happens quickly and efficiently in Cuba.
Communism breeds apathy, Spanish ancestory bring manjana-manjana attitude, caribean is famously layed back. Combine all three and you have Cuba
