Familiarity Breeds Contempt...............NOT !!!

Today as I'm on anual leave I went for an amble around Edinburgh. I've lived most of my life on Scotlands capitals doorstep and was born there in 1969. Yet as I wonder around the familiar streets I'm still struck as to how beautiful and interesting a city it still is. I feel no contempt for it despite its extreme familiarity :D

Where within the UK do you still think is a great place despite your familiarity with it. The place where the grass is still greener for you than the other side ?

The only places I am familiar with in the UK either always have been crap-holes or have developed into them ..

I love returning to Leeds by train, seeing the familiar skyline yet each arrival noting new additions. Walking around the streets that I know but now as an adventure into the new.

The country side to the north of Leeds, the moors the dales always leave me wanting more and regretting the fact I didnt make more of them when I had them on the door stop. Roundhay in Leeds is my spiritual home, the smell of deciduous woodland always takes me back to Roundhay park and my childhood.

For two years now London has been my home, I am still awestruck with the vibrancy and sights. I always do a tourist picture of tower bridge everytime I cross London Bridge.

i have always lived in plymouth

yet on occasion (normally when im in town)
i look up, yes i look up
some lovely buildings here, people just dont take the time to look UP anymore

also, down by tamar bridge is very nice, saltash passage

I purposefully moved to my town for it's old building heritage....it's a great place to look up in......York does it for me too, I just can't feel any stress there....
