Eddy Merkcx frame serial number info needed

HI y'all...I just bought an EM OS Strada...from Billa and wondering if anyone can make sense of the serial number...a bloke on line has a website dedicated to EM serial numbers http://www.cadre.org/Merckx/ but i think it is out of date as i tried to email the site but the email address given does not work.....so can anyone on here give me some help to unlock the code.....Would EM bikes be any use now that EM has sold up...i believe the the factory in Meise has closed?

The serial number which is located on the non-drive side of the BB shell is as follows:

4

except the 4 is rotated to the left by 90 degrees....that is it [see third picture below]...any help would be appreciated.

The F or the 4 could be the code for the paint shop.

The F means its a 1996 or 1997 frame. The 4 probably means its a 54cm frame.

Thank you for the info Jeremy....is the email address dead?.....as yahoo would not let send can email......a further question.....how do I find out the authentic paint code.....for touch up paint.....I am assuming the colour it has is original.....I just got something made up...looking at trillions of car swatch cards.....nearest match is Isuzu magenta metallic.....would the em website be any use or will that be a pointless exercise?

The email address shouldn't be dead, but I am somewhat notorious about forgetting to respond to mail - my apologies.

I think your assumption about the color being original is a good one. Finding an original paint code will be tricky. As far as I've found, they didn't document them anywhere. I'm skeptical of the factory/website people knowing, but I also question whether the original color would be a proper match given fade. Your best bet is probably what you've done.

Not your fault.....I used the email address you put on the [email protected]. and yahoo said it was not a valid address....so my email could not be sent.

Strange numbering system almost not worth bothering......if 4=54cm.....what would be written for 64cm....I suppose because it is rarer.....would it be 64?

I think the colour is as good as I will get.....has the Meuse factory closed then?
