For sale:

Red 531 tubed road bike frame is early 80's, as is the groupset, fork is later. Decals say it is an Eddy Merckx, and I bought it as such, but I am not so sure. It is an ok older respray, looks great unless you are really close, it has some aero forks, which are later than the frame. Seatpost, stem, front mech, rear mech, chainset, shifters, pedals, brakes and brake levers are all Shimano 600, the wheels are Campag hubs on Mavic rims, 700c. 7 speed cassette with really good indexed shifting. The saddle is a lovely Selle Italia Eddy Merckx, with some wear to the sides. Plenty of life left in the cassette and chainrings and it is a really good rider, responsive and fast.

The frame is a 23 - 23.5 inch by my measurement (c - c)

Bad points - at some point the rear mech has been cut off and so the frame now has a separate hanger, it doesn't affect the ride, but it would look better with a new one braised on - pretty cheap to get done TBH, or an ideal frame for a fixie conversion. Also the bottom bracket has excessive movement and will need replacing before you ride it.

This was my main road bike untill the BB went, but I have a lovely carbon framset to replace it, so it has to go.

£110 - it owes me a fair bit more!

Saracen Rufftrax - Tange cromo frame, measures up as around a 19 inch frame, with bottom bracket and a set of 1 1/8 forks that came on my Kona.

£15

Pics of both below.

These are collected prices (from Worksop area) I can do postage at cost, but have never posted a bike or frame so would have to get a quote.

love the crx im a dub head but always had a soft spot for them!

Thanks, that one is the latest of a few, and has a 2.0l engine conversion :P

I have been given some information that says genuine Eddie Merckx frames should be pantographed on the seatstays with EM. This one is not, so best to think of it as a good quality 531 frame than any particular brand.

just for your info: the EM frame looks rather like a Claud Butler - no worse for quality, just as you say, a good quality 531 frame,

Hi

Just to add to the above posts I do ride and build a lot of 531 and given the condition of yours I think a more accurate price would be about 50 quid,if those are the wheels that came with the bike I recon it's a Peogeot and that model was not 531.

2.0l VTEC? How does that compare with the standard 1.6? Love the crx. Had one a few years back. Got stolen and written off tho :(
Got a 2004 accord type s now (WHY wont honda do a type R accord??) with the 2.4l VTEC. Love it to bits

Sorry, your post makes little sense!

There are no close up pics of the wheels and hundreds of bikes came with Campag/mavic wheels, how the hell would you know what model it is from that. It doesn't look much like a Peugeot in style, but I suppose that could be correct. Btw, it sounds like 531 and weighs the correct amount (in fact a little less than my other 531 bike)

Finally, NFW am I selling it for £50, looking at the prices for used Shimano 600 parts from this era, it could be parted out on Ebay for more than I am asking for it.

I hate it when people wreck for sale threads with 'nah mate, it aint worth that' posts.

I will take offers on both these items, and may be willing to split the bike if there is enough interest.

Sorry if my post above is a little curt

Makster - It's got loads more torque - it makes 5th gear like 3rd in the 1.6. Love the styling on those Accords :D
