Eddy Merckx corsa extra – as new -20 miles only- just built up
I purchased the frame in 2003 from the Merckx factory , it was ordered through Bikepark in London as 48cm is a custom size and the factory was slowing down or stopping its steel racers from its line. It then lived under my bed and over the next few years I slowly got round to getting everything for it. In late 2005 I lifted the frame from the box and had Edison cycles of Clowne face the BB, install an Ultegra BB, stronglight headset and build a set of wheels. These were made up of Ultegra hubs laced with lightweight sapim spokes to Mavic open pro rims. Due to work commitments it then got put away with groupset etc still boxed to finally come out in July 2007. It was then built with the following components:

Shimano 105 groupset, brakes, triple chain ring,cranks, rear derailluer, front mech
Shimano Ultegra STI shifters and seatpost
Selle Italia octavia gel saddle
Cinelli 9cm Merckx stem
Cinelli " campioni" non anatomic 40cm bars
Silva Merckx bar tape
Hutchinson tyres
*** the only blemish on this bike is on the rubber hood on the right STI, the rubber has some rub marks from storage, no idea how and not very noticeable but best mentioned. It can be seen in picture of STI, no marks anywhere but the rubber hood.
This did take me a while to build up but it was not my only machine as I have a Giant TCR. I purchased it as it was something I always longed for, a classic steel Merck that while getting the frame when the opportunity arose I could build up at my own pace. Sadly I now have it built up and only ridden approx 20miles to make sure everything was working and it is for sale, purely and simply because of a unexpected financial need for cash. It will definitely be my loss.
It is up for a fair price especially when I know how much was invested in it.
There is also a 3ttt anatomic bar and stem in the same sizes that can come with it. They were an option when building.
