mine was crap,,,,,ive had 2 so far...just threw my latest away as its so bad...better off burning ya money...honestly ,,,,walk away now....

That says it's got a resistive screen - I'd avoid, you really want a multi-touch, capacitive screen. Not sure about the cpu in that one, ideally dual-core, maybe Tegra-2 would be a better bet.

Froyo / 2.2 doesn't put me off - I know many will talk about ICS, or honeycomb as being designed for tablets, or even gingerbread being notably better, but I'm sat here replying on an Android pad running 2.2, with a decent screen (10" capacitve, multi-touch), with a Tegra-2 cpu. Admittedly it wasn't quite as cheap as that, but was only around £150.

If you can live with a 7" screen, and aren't tied to Android, and could spend a bit more, I'd get one of these. Well discounted, true multi-tasking and nicely performing, and there's been loads of happy new owners on a hotukdeals thread, recently.

pros....decent battery life ,ok web browser,ok book reader
cons...crap dim screen ..no good for outside at all even on dim days, crap charger, crap body case, crap response time(measured in minutes sometimes),not multi touch, takes for ever to turn on,dont even think of updating one..the updates brick them .,the worst speakers in history ..had to use earphones all the time, keyboard default is chinese which you have to keep setting every time you turn the frikkin thing on,the wifi is dreadful at best you have to be next to the router ,no bluetooth even tho they say it has and the gps port is fake on most of them with empty bodies on the external receiver and no internal hardware on the main board...i hated mine so much i put a 12 inch carving knife through the second one...the first after updating just wouldnt stop vibrating ....

Considering you can get an Advent Vega for a little over £100, don't bother with the cheap ones, the Advent has a decent community supporting it as it had the package but no the software out of the box.

Carl.

Cheers folks all great stuff :) Playbook looks interesting.

Doesn't the vega get slated for having crap viewing angles on the screen?
