i get regular emails from "courier companies" telling me my parcel failed to deliver.
i get regular emails from "paypal" telling me my payment to skype etc. was successful.
i have also had the ebay scam emails.
after a while they just stand out a mile.

we live in a world where people are happy to exploit our gullibility.

I once got the classic Nigerian email. You know, political refugee, had to flee the country leaving £££s behind, would you mind awfully lending me £10,000 in exchange for a chunk of the profits?

I replies vaguely feigning interest and as the conversation progressed I was making out I was a gay East End gangster bd would help him out in exchange for a few favours ;)

He was too thick to understand the overtones, and I posted the conversation on a forum I frequent to entertain the members.

My wife had one from someone claiming to be Col Gaddafi's personal pilot who had a stash of cash that he needed laundering! Seriously these guys should be scriptwriters...

About 10 years ago i was in India.Big fancy hotel[5star] my passport and personal details were held in the safe.

When i got home there was a begging letter from so local or other[scammer] asking me to send money to pay for an operation, new clothes for the poor etc.
They could have only got my details when my passport was in their safe.
Now this is a top hotel so i was really surprised that someone had attempted to harvest my details.

I emailed the hotel head office with my concerns but they attempted to fob me off with this is such and such a company,we dont employ unvettet staff etc etc
I copied the letter i was sent and left them to it.I did eventually get a reply from them offering me a 50% discount but there was no way i was spending another grand getting there
