Ebay Purchasing Grrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhh! Tracking Details..

I am into my fourth round of trying to get tracking details for an item that was supposedly heading my way on Thursday, but was eventually posted on Tuesday. I understand, it was a bank holiday weekend and all, but having delayed five days to then withhold the tracking details for another two days is spectacularly bad form.

Why do some Ebay sellers, and sellers elsewhere, treat tracking details like they are secret they need to keep until you have taken delivery?

If you advertise tracked delivery you should provide the details as soon as you dispatch. That should be in the rules.

I usually opt to pay, often at extra cost, for tracked delivery, so I want details of the service I have paid for.

We are generally out when deliveries arrive, so we have most things delivered to town. Parcel Force, and one of two other large operators drivers mostly know us and will let us take it off the van. (Officially against their rules for some silly reason; what are the chances someone else could get the tracking details and collect items that don't belong to them?)

So the tracking information is important not only to ensure the security of delivery, but for us up here where Parcel Force 48 is essentially a three day service, but can be two, it helps us avoid delays and visits to parcel depots.

Anyway Grhhhhhhh!
