Building a road bike up for my lad. Its a brand new road frame, it fits 26in wheels. Original plan was to try a pair of my used disc(with rim track)/10sp... Problem is the rear spacing won't fit.

I have just a picked up a pair of retro Mtb wheels for £20. The rear is a deore lx hub, with Magic M231 rims. Zero rim wear! Nice wheels imo

The other is not so good, front, exage on Rigida Laser rims. Black rims, worn on the edges.

I could use my more modern bike wheel or the Rigida, but would like to get rid of the black colouring on the rim. Any simple, easy, safe way to do this?

I have a lovely Silver Mavic M231 Ceramic rimmed front wheel built onto a deore hub with stainless spokes if any good to replace the Rigida?

PM me if interested.

It's a metal coloured hub, annoyingly I do have a spare wheel with a black Deore DX hub but it's a rear.

Forgot to say the wheel is pretty much as new condition.

Immaculate M231s seem to go for good money, so I'd simply sell the rear.
I guess that the frame is a 130mm OLN at the rear. It's relatively simple to fit a shorter axle and smaller left hand spacer then tweak the wheel dish.

So in a bit of a dilemma, will have to try a few options.

Currently got 2 modern (disc&rim) wheels, XT hub, black rims - REAR wont fit
1 retro rear, good condition - Deore LX hub, silver rim - could combine with the above front
1 retro rear, used condition - Exage silver hub, Black/Silver rims, some rust on spoke eyelets

To make the rear fit, with spacing - what would be the cost inc the dishing - not something I am willing to do myself.
