Early(?) Avid 1D V-Brake/what is this?

I did a bunch of searching on the web for brakes like these, but came up empty, nothing but common SD stuff. They are Avid '1D' V-brakes, but the Avid logo is a bit different than what I am used to seeing and I'm puzzled as to when they were made. There are some interesting features-height adjustment via the lower clamping bolt you see at the bottom of the arm, and pad removal/depth adjustment with the larger bolt seen above the pivot, and a third (and clever) adjuster for pad angle-that's the long bolt you can see spanning the split in the arm.

I'm not suggesting they are uncommon, expensive, or even necessarily retro, I'm just trying to figure how old they are, because I think they are wicked cool. Anyone?

Don't know, but I agree, they are awesome.

Glad someone shares my thoughts 8)

One of the springs is broken, I'm hoping they are somewhat similar to a different Avid model so I can replace it and actually use them.

Toronto Cycles has Ti springs for Avid v brakes. It may work.

I saw a set of these brakes on Ebay a few months ago and missed my chance.

They remind me of Onza HO V brakes, which I have one pair.

Thanks for the info about the springs, much appreciated. Considering the construction of these, they feel pretty light, Ti springs would be a nice addition.

I like the Onza's as well. I've read they can fail if not properly set up, and I'm a bit of a caveman when it comes to brakes, so I figured I'd leave them alone. I like how they look though, and don't believe the problem is with the brakes, just the proper setup.

Speaking of odd Avid Vs, I found these buried in the back of the LBS in a Tri Align II box w. a Tri Align III sticker on it. I'd never seen a pair before.
