early 90s Red Rockhopper - partial refurb....

I picked up a garaged Rockhopper at the end of last year. It had an Altus A10/A20 group - but components were letting it down a bit, even though they hadn't done many miles.

Since then the frameset has received a strip down and clean, although I chose not to repaint it - because all the original decals were in good shape and being bright red, it still looked good after just spot-touching and small chips and scuffs to keep any rust at bay.

Wheels were in pretty good shape after truing the rear slightly - so are still the OEM Specialized hard anodised rims complete with its Ground Control amber-walls from the day (cleaned them up and swapped the front for back to even out the wear on the rear over the next year or two).

I treated it to a clean and reconditioned Deore DX group as an upgrade - and I'm really pleased with it - its a blast from the past that should easily last another 20 years being a basic rigid steel MTB

It rides as a remember steel Specialized bikes - nice and responsive
