I had an old Shimano Sharkfin, on which the original adhesive had completely dried out. I completely cleaned off the original dried adhesive with some petrol, I then used a smear of Evo Stik Timebond on the back of the sharkfin and let it go tacky before re-fitting it; it's been three years and it's still there. :D

I think it's the OEM one. Probably woven polyester like the guy above says....

Looks very similar to this ...

It was double sided tape! The foam double sided tape used for car exterior trim seems to work well enough. The trick is to make sure the tape is good and warm, then warm the frame (hot air gun on low setting is ideal, alternatively boiling water). Then the glue melts properly and it all sticks!

Ahh! Good stuff .. Sounds like it maybe salvageable after all
