Early 90's French Criterium..

Just picked up this early 90's race bike made by AJP from Paris. Tubing is Reynolds 708 classic with full Shimano 600 Tricolor.
I've had a few bikes pass through my hands (probably 40 to 50) I buy 'em, fettle 'em, ride 'em and if I get on with them I keep them - there aren't many that pass the grade! But this AJP is one of the smoothest comfortable rides I've ever experienced.
Reynolds 708 seems to have been phased out quite quickly - I think most tubesets were sold off to Raleigh and Peugeot.

I like that! I would have said late rather than early 90's though, based on the brazed on STI cable guides on the head tube. They might be a later edition, but the paint looks right for the 90's. STIs only came out early 90's, and no-one thought to put cable guides on the HT until a few years later.

Looks amazing, lovely bike. Rad 90s colourfade, race number tag, bright pedals, and that lovely seattube/stay junction, a whole lot to like!

My 1994 bike has STI cable guides on the head tube, so mid 90s seems right to me - I guess this could be early 90s if AJP were early to adopt them? Interesting that it has stencilled name graphics rather than decals - not sure I've actually ever seen that before on a bike.
