Over the last few days I have been deep into a rabbit hole of articles & video's featuring pro MTBers from the early 90's and the bikes they rode. In some cases the pro's talk about how the older bikes compare to newer MTB's.
It's all fascinating stuff and I thought I'd share a few particular links. Main sources being @theproscloset , Radavist and youtube.

Yeti ARC 1990 versus 2020

For those who have not seen these stories before - Enjoy!

And I just want to add that I don't care for the comparison to modern bikes. It's just silly and pointless. Of course a 2020 Porsche 911 is easier to drive, and probably faster than a 1972 RS, but which is the better machine? Ugh. Probably the new one. Gross

Agreed, that Herbold video is super cool. And the analogy with old air-cooled 911's versus the modern stuff is spot on. Having driven many old and new ones, I would never kick a '73 RS out of the garage in favour of some liquid-cooled crap from today.
